Family Values - Prioritized Lives Reflect Strong Values, Good Choices, & Accomplishment

Family values often reflect political conservative causes portrayed in governmental positions, but is not it more appropriately a state of priorities within the home and business world? As we face yet another presidential election year, the review of major cultural changes woven into our society become center stage. Between the sexual revolutions, feminism, and gay rights, where do our values stand. Sociologist and political scientist at the City University of New York Graduate Center, Frances Fox Piven indicates that people have adjusted to those political viewpoints.

But have they?

Has your station in life changed to accept legal abortion, same-sex marriage, and embryonic stem-cell research? Do the religious connotations and limitations inflict pain on your emotional state? You can stop those issues but first you must determine your position and your own personal choices. How do you believe? Or more importantly, WHAT do you believe?

As we jump into yet another new year, have you looked at your own goals, values, and choices for life? Are you living up to your own expectations? Do you achieve what you desire each year? Do your family values reflect your personal beliefs?

Prioritize, set goals, and make choices that reflect your personal beliefs:

>>> Write a personal mission statement and know where you're going in life. Once you know what you want to accomplish in your life, you'll have a much easier job of accomplishing your personal goals.

>>> Set personal goals, both long and short term goals. Give yourself a target and you're more likely to achieve your goals. Write them down and put a date on them.

>>> Schedule events each day in your life in order to achieve your goals. Baby steps toward your goals each day will bring you closer to fulfillment every day.

>>> When you take on new responsibilities, ask first if they are within your goal range. If not, decline the responsibility. Take on only what you actually want to do.

>>> Prioritize your time and goals for basic accomplishment first. Get the job done and stay focused to get where you want to go. Do not pause to enjoy the scene unless it's part of your plan.
