Gay Marriage BUREAU TAKEOVER 1971




The Gay Activist Alliance resolved to occupy NYC’s Marriage License Bureau, June four,1971, soon after the Town Clerk threatened to arrest the minister of a nearby homosexual church for doing “Products and services of Holy Union” which the Town Clerk mentioned were being the equal of homosexual relationship. Gay relationship was not still a single of the LGBT movement’s intention in 1971 but the activists felt they couldn’t stand by though a city formal threatened the Church of the Beloved Disciple with lawful action. They resolved to get more than the NYC Marriage License Bureau and toss an engagement celebration for two homosexual couples. In this article, they strategy their action in the GAA Firehouse headquarters on Wooster Street in NYC and start off their invasion.
