Is the End of World Near? 4 Biblical Signs That the World is Ending

All around the world, people are asking, "Is the end of world near?"

This may be particularly true for Christians, who can see several of the signs of the end that were predicted in the Bible. Whatever you're looking forward to the end or dreading it, the signs are there. Take a look at some of the prophecies.

"And many false prophecies will arise and mislead many." Matthew 24:11

There's no doubt that there have been many people who have risen to such a level that they are able to lead people astray. Jim Jones and David Koresh are often reminded because these individuals actually claimed to be the messiah, but I do not think that the prophecy alludes only to people like this.

Perhaps even more dangerous are the "prophets" that are more mainstream who are leading people astray. Some would say that President Obama could be a prophet that's leading the people astray, while others may argue that the leaders of the political right, such as Rush Limbaugh, are the ones truly leading people astray.

"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes." Matthew 24: 7

There's no doubt that the world is rife with war and there are a number of people through the world that go hungry each day. With the economic problems in America, the issue of hunger is no longer confined to the third world. Many Americans do not get enough to eat. There are also many earthquakes through the world.

"But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, malicious gossips, without self- Control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of god; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth . " II Timothy 3: 1-5,7

Whether you're religious or not, Christian or Pagan, I think that it's safe to say that this does conflict current society. Greed is rampant and people are only looking out for themselves. Instead of being a society that cares for one another, we have become a society that only cares about our own needs, all others be damned. This selfishness can be seen in the current health care debate, where people that claim do be loving believe that only those who can afford to pay high premiums should be allowed to have health insurance. Where is the brotherhood?

"But all these things are certainly the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of my name." Matthew 24: 8-9

This is Jesus speaking, saying that believers will become hated because of his name (or the fact that they are Christian). In some countries of the world, where Christianity is not the primary faith, those that are Christian are persecuted. Even in countries with a large Christian population, such as America, Christians face ridicule from non-believers, though this does not usually lead to death.
