Actor Jonah Hill has apologized for using a homophobic slur against a paparazzo while strolling in the Larchmont area of L.A. with a friend over the weekend.

TMZ posted a video of the incident that shows several paparazzi following Hill with one person heard mocking the actor’s flashy floral shorts. At the end of the video, after the paparazzo wished the actor a great day, he replies “Suck my d***, you f****t”.

Hours after the video was posted, Jonah went on The Howard Stern show to apologize for his behavior. Although he made no excuse for what he did, he clarified that the paparazzo has been following him for the entire day, and were intentionally riling him up and saying “hurtful things about my family, really hurtful things about me personally. ”

Hill added “If you call me ugly, if you call family members of mine drug addicts and maniacs, I am eventually going to lose my cool.”

Hill is a longtime gay-rights activist and even took a public stance against Moscow’s anti-gay law during the Winter Olympics.
