Outrage homosexual protest at Bishops, London 28 7 1998

Undercurrents archive

Forty homosexual rights activists shown tonight, Tuesday, 28th July, amongst six and 7 p.m., as 800 Anglican bishops from the Lambeth Convention arrived at Pageant Pier on London’s South Bank to choose a boat trip down the Thames.

The demonstrators from OutRage! and other queer rights groups, together with the NUS, castigated the bishops around their guidance for authorized discrimination from homosexuals, and demanded a “Queer Reformation” to close church guidance for antigay discrimination. (In the course of the modern Home of Lords vote on the age of consent, Bishops voted two-to-one from equality.)
