THE new Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh has uncovered that she is gay.
Maria Walsh (27) opened up about her sexuality in an job interview with the Irish Sunlight on Sunday.
“I am assured in who I am as a human being,” she claimed.
“To me, currently being gay is usual. I instructed my parents and they were being supportive, as I understood they would be.”
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Maria (27) moved to Shrule in Co Mayo with her loved ones 20 many years back but pursuing her graduation in Journalism and Visible Media at Griffith College or university, moved to New York and later on to Philadelphia.
Maria drew tears from loved ones associates through her job interview at the Dome in Tralee on Tuesday night when she remembered her cousin Teresa Molloy (19), just one of 4 girls killed in a crash on the N17 around Milltown, Co Galway in November 2009.
“It’s moments like this, like currently being in the Rose of Tralee, that make you actually seize the working day and take pleasure in life and consider almost everything as it will come,” claimed Maria. “She has supplied me a large amount of very good luck to date, so I know she’s searching down on me and my loved ones.”
The new Rose of Tralee has claimed that she started a romance with a woman some many years back which lasted for two many years, but she is now single.
“I am not ashamed of my sexuality by any means,” she instructed the Irish Sunlight on Sunday.
“The Rose of Tralee is about celebrating women’s intelligence, professions, their volunteer work. The question of sexuality never came up. To me, currently being gay is usual it can be natural.”
Ms Walsh’s sexuality is probably to “generate some interest, hopefully all constructive”, the govt chairman of the extended-functioning pageant Anthony O’Gara has claimed.
